Medical Advisory Board
VCI's Medical Advisory Board is quite impressive. Its sole function is to assist the VCI staff in reviewing healthcare sector deals. These reviews generally include an examination of the subject project's markets, technologies, competitors, intellectual property, FDA issues and more. Members of the VCI Medical Advisory Board have recently received and accepted a term sheet which prevents us from using the actual names of the medical personnel involved, by order of the VC handling the funding:

Clinical/Research Interests
This doctor has clinical interests in both diagnostic and therapeutic neuroradiology, including the treatment of stroke and cerebral aneurysms, the physiology of cerebral blood flow and perfusion, magnetic resonance (MR) guidance, interventional MR, and the uses and physiology of contrast media. He has two patents: for a device to treat cerebral aneurysms from within the blood vessels, and for an MR-visible catheter for MR-guided procedures. His research activities focus on new techniques for treating stroke and cerebral aneurysms, and the use of lasers to dissolve clots that produce acute stroke and to dilate constricted blood vessels after aneurysmal hemorrhage.

Born and educated in Toronto. He received his BSc degree in Mathematics and Physics from a Canadian University in 1966, and MSc and PhD degrees in Medical Biophysics from another Canadian University in 1968 and 1970, respectively. From 1970 to ‘71, he held an MRC Centennial Fellowship as a postdoctoral fellow in Germany. In late 1971 he returned to a Canadian Cancer Institute as a Scientist in the Physics Division, where he remained until 1990.
From 1990-2004 he was Director of Imaging Research at a well known Health Sciences Center where, since 2004, he has continued as a Senior Scientist in Imaging Research. He is a Professor at a Canadian University in the Department of Medical Biophysics and is cross-appointed to the Departments of Physics and Medical Imaging. This doctor has published over 120 peer-reviewed papers, mainly on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques and their applications in biophysics and medicine. His current research focuses on the use of MRI for interventional procedures, particularly for thermal therapies.
